OVERLANDING IN NAMIBIA
Exploring the Deserts of Namibia
From Windhoek to the Angolan Border
No sailboats this time. Just a (hopefully) sturdy 4-wheel drive truck. We’ve swapped the arctic, cold-weather gear for t-shirts and sunscreen. The Namib and the Kalahari deserts are stunning places and a photographer’s dream so that’s where we headed.
Expedition plan
Dates: June 15, 2024 – July 02, 2024
Duration: 19 days
Port of departure: Windhoek, Namibia
Expedition description
Our next expedition will take us south from Windhoek to the Kalahari. From there onto Sossusvlei. After a week exploring the south, we will head to the coast at Swakopmund for a break. From there onto Twyfelfontein, Damaraland, Etosha and the Kalahari. Namibia has some of the best dark skies in the world and is one of the best places in the world for astral photography so we plan to take full advantage of this and will be schlepping even more photography equipment than usual.
This is a small expedition - four people and whatever equipment we can shoe-horn into a 4x4 but we’re hoping to be stunned by Namibia’s scenery, and dazzled by its wildlife. It’s our first foray into Africa and hopefully won’t be our last.
The expedition will last for 19 days, from June 15 to July 02, 2024.
